REFUND POLICY

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last Updated: October 14, 2026

At AZAR Design & Build, we are committed to delivering exceptional quality, professional service, and customer satisfaction. Our projects involve extensive planning, design, scheduling, material procurement, and skilled labor.

This Refund & Cancellation Policy establishes the conditions under which payments, deposits, and fees may be refunded or retained.

This policy applies to services offered by AZAR Design & Build through www.azardesignbuild.com, including residential and commercial remodeling, renovations, home additions, construction, interior design, and related services.

All refunds and cancellations are subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as the terms of the signed project agreement.

1. General Refund Policy

Due to the customized nature of our design and construction services, payments for services already performed and costs properly incurred are generally nonrefundable, except where otherwise required by law or specified in a signed agreement.

Once services have commenced, AZAR Design & Build reserves the right to retain payments for completed work, professional services, approved purchases, and project-related expenses to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Refund requests will be evaluated based on the project status, work completed, materials ordered, contractual obligations, and applicable consumer protection laws.

2. Consultation and Design Fees

Fees charged for design consultations, site evaluations, space planning, architectural coordination, design development, renderings, and other professional services are generally nonrefundable once the applicable service has been performed.

If a client cancels a design service before work begins, any refund will be determined according to the signed agreement, disclosed booking terms, and applicable laws.

Once design work has commenced, AZAR Design & Build may retain fees proportionate to completed services and other authorized, nonrecoverable expenses.

Changes in personal preferences, design direction, or project plans after approval do not automatically entitle a client to a refund.

Additional design revisions beyond the agreed scope may be subject to additional charges.

3. Project Deposits and Initial Payments

Project deposits and initial payments may be required to secure project scheduling, initiate planning, coordinate subcontractors, or procure materials.

All deposit amounts and payment schedules will be specified in the applicable written agreement.

Following expiration of any legally required cancellation period, deposits may be applied toward:

  • Design and planning services already performed.

  • Project management and administrative services.

  • Authorized material purchases and special orders.

  • Permits, engineering, and third-party professional fees.

  • Labor, scheduling, and mobilization expenses already incurred.

  • Other reasonable, documented project expenses authorized under the agreement.

Deposits are not automatically refundable solely because a client decides not to proceed with a project.

Any refundable balance will be determined after accounting for earned fees, authorized commitments, and applicable contractual obligations.

No provision of this policy permits AZAR Design & Build to retain deposits or payments in violation of applicable law.

4. Custom Orders and Special Materials

Many of our projects require customized materials and products specifically selected or ordered for individual clients.

Such items may include:

  • Custom kitchen and bathroom cabinetry.

  • Natural stone, quartz, porcelain, and specialty surfaces.

  • Custom countertops and fabricated materials.

  • Flooring, tile, and specialty finishes.

  • Doors, windows, fixtures, and hardware.

  • Custom millwork and built-in furniture.

  • Other made-to-order or specially sourced products.

Once a custom order has been approved and placed, amounts paid or committed for that order are generally nonrefundable to the extent that cancellation or return is not permitted by the supplier and applicable law.

Clients are responsible for reviewing and approving product selections, specifications, finishes, dimensions, and other relevant details before ordering.

Changes requested after approval may result in additional charges, extended lead times, or new material orders.

Natural variations in stone, wood, and other materials do not independently constitute grounds for a refund when those variations are consistent with the disclosed characteristics and agreed specifications.

This section does not limit remedies for incorrect, defective, or nonconforming products under applicable law or contract terms.

5. Project Cancellation by the Client

Clients requesting cancellation of an approved project must provide written notice to AZAR Design & Build.

Cancellation requests should be submitted to:

azar@azardesignbuild.com

If cancellation occurs after an applicable statutory cancellation period, AZAR Design & Build may retain or recover, as permitted by law and the signed agreement:

  • Payment for work completed up to the effective cancellation date.

  • Costs of approved materials and noncancelable supplier orders.

  • Authorized subcontractor charges and professional fees.

  • Reasonable project mobilization and demobilization expenses.

  • Other documented costs and cancellation charges expressly permitted by the agreement and applicable law.

The client remains responsible for any outstanding balance legally due for completed work and authorized expenses.

If payments received exceed the amount properly owed, the remaining balance will be refunded in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

Cancellation does not automatically release either party from obligations already incurred under the signed agreement.

6. Cancellation or Suspension by AZAR Design & Build

AZAR Design & Build reserves the right, subject to applicable laws and contractual requirements, to suspend or terminate services under circumstances including:

  • Failure to make required payments.

  • Material breach of the signed agreement.

  • Unsafe or inaccessible working conditions.

  • Failure to provide necessary approvals or site access.

  • Unreasonable interference with project performance.

  • Other circumstances that legally or contractually justify suspension or termination.

Where notice or an opportunity to correct a breach is required, AZAR Design & Build will follow those requirements before taking further action.

Upon termination, a final accounting will be prepared for work performed, authorized expenses, and payments received.

Any balance legally owed to the client will be refunded. Any outstanding amount properly owed to AZAR Design & Build remains payable under the agreement.

7. Changes After Project Approval

Once a client has approved project drawings, material selections, specifications, or a written proposal, any subsequent changes must be reviewed and documented in accordance with the signed agreement.

Requested changes may affect project pricing, schedules, materials, and labor requirements.

Where required, changes will be documented through a written change order approved by both parties.

AZAR Design & Build is not obligated to provide previously approved additional work, replacement materials, or revised designs without payment of any properly agreed additional charges.

Refunds will not be provided solely because a client changes their preferences after approved work has been correctly performed, subject to applicable rights and warranties.

8. Completed Work and Quality Concerns

Payments for services properly completed in accordance with approved plans, agreed specifications, and applicable standards are generally nonrefundable.

If a client identifies a workmanship concern, installation defect, or material discrepancy, the client should notify AZAR Design & Build promptly and provide reasonable access to assess the issue.

Where required by the signed agreement or applicable law, AZAR Design & Build will address verified deficiencies through appropriate correction, repair, replacement, refund, or another legally required remedy.

Refund requests based solely on subjective dissatisfaction with properly performed, previously approved work may be denied where legally permitted.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any applicable statutory warranties, legal remedies, or rights relating to defective or nonconforming work.

9. Project Delays and Scheduling

Estimated project start dates, completion dates, and material delivery schedules will be established in the applicable agreement.

Schedule changes may occur because of weather conditions, permitting requirements, inspections, material availability, unforeseen site conditions, client-requested changes, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

A delay does not automatically create a right to cancel or receive a refund.

However, clients retain any cancellation, termination, or refund rights provided by the signed agreement or applicable law.

AZAR Design & Build will communicate material schedule changes and work toward a reasonable resolution when delays occur.

10. Refund Requests and Processing

To request a refund, clients should email:

azar@azardesignbuild.com

Please include the client's name, project address, contract or invoice reference, and a description of the refund request.

We will review the request together with the signed agreement, payment records, completed services, and documented expenses.

Approved refunds will be processed within the timeframe required by applicable law. Where no specific legal deadline applies, we aim to issue approved refunds within 15 business days after the amount has been determined.

Refunds will generally be issued through the original payment method unless another arrangement is agreed upon.

Any permitted deductions will be identified in the final accounting.

11. Legal Cancellation Rights

Certain residential home improvement and home solicitation transactions may be subject to mandatory cancellation periods under federal, Virginia, Maryland, or District of Columbia law.

Where such laws apply, clients retain their statutory right to cancel within the required period and receive any refund mandated by law.

These rights take precedence over any conflicting provision of this policy, including provisions regarding deposits, custom orders, cancellation fees, and completed work.

Applicable cancellation notices and instructions will be provided in the project agreement or accompanying documents as required by law.

Nothing in this Refund & Cancellation Policy limits or waives a client's nonwaivable legal rights.

12. Signed Agreements and Governing Terms

This policy provides general information regarding AZAR Design & Build's refund and cancellation practices.

Each project may be governed by a separate written proposal, design agreement, construction contract, or other signed agreement containing project-specific payment terms, cancellation provisions, and responsibilities.

In the event of an inconsistency, the signed agreement governs the specific project, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Website content, general inquiries, and preliminary estimates do not replace an executed project agreement.

13. Changes to This Policy

AZAR Design & Build reserves the right to update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time.

Any revisions will be posted on our Website with an updated effective date.

Changes to this Website policy will not retroactively modify the terms of an existing signed project agreement without the parties' agreement or another lawful basis.
